June 2020 Portrait Month

Window Gallery celebrated our 2nd Birthday in June! We set the space up in 2018 to give local artists a space to display their work. We usually host a new exhibition of local art in our window every month. Whilst these shows are on pause we are sharing video exhibitions instead. This means we can join forces with local musicians to share the perfect song with each video.

As a result, this month we are sharing three video exhibitions on the theme of portraits. You can check out all the videos from June 2020 Portrait Month on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/ChelmsfordWindowGallery

Firstly, Gary Luxton Portrait Exhibition

Gary Luxton creates portraits of famous faces such as Stevie Wonder, Prince and Mick Jagger. The video exhibition is available now on the Window Gallery Facebook page.

Music by David Arscott, arranged and embellished by The White Gospel.

Portraits for Key Workers Exhibition

Artist Thomas Croft created the Portraits for NHS Heroes project. After that, artists all over the world joined in to show our respect for key workers. Artworks by Amelia Potter, Debra Weiss, Fiona GoldbergMaking Faces IllustrationLynn Excell Art, Rachell Smith and Sharon Alderton.

Music by Joe Thomas

Collaborative Portrait Project Exhibition

Each week during the lockdown, Chelmsford Creative Collective artists have been creating portraits. For example, we have done portraits of Grayson Perry, Mary Beard and Russell Brand. In addition, the work of all the artists gets turned into crazy mash-up images! The project has been so much fun that we are going to continue every week. All artists are welcome to join in.

Music by Hell Feeder

The music by local musicians Hell Feeder and Joe Thomas is available on Four Walls album. Four Walls is a collaborative production from some of the artists of the Resonance collective.

All the proceeds will be going to the NHS and other charities that support people affected by COVID-19. These pieces are created from isolation but still represent our ability to connect and work together.
